The pistons in my 289 are .007 below deck. I am using Felpro 1011-2 head gaskets .039 thick installed. That should put my quench at .046. I am running KB-116 pistons in a '68 F-lane w/AOD and 4.62 rear gears. I calculate the compression ratio to be 9.9:1 with 60cc (measured) E7 heads. Is the .046 quench going to be OK? Are detonation problems imminent running on 93-octane pump gas? What is the maximum quench you should run? Thanks, B-loose

i think it'll be fine. Tighter the better for power, only when parts collide does it become a problem. 93 octane should be OK, don't run too small of a cam tho

Cam is small, .498 lift at the valve and 222 duration @.050 lift, 110 lobe centers. I didn't have the money for a 3000rpm stall converter ($500) so I had to get a 2000RPM. So that is limiting me in regaurds to the cam. What do you think? B-loose
