I was always told to use the 1/2 turn past contact method on adjusting valves with hydraulic lifters. Recently I've heard of going an 1/8 of a turn or less to compensate for lifter pump up. The reasoning is more compression and better seal with the valves. I am in the process of upgrading to HD shafts aluminum spacers and billet stands and end stands. Thought I would get some opinions on the valve setting before I jump in.Thanks, Steve

I've always done it 1/2 turn, but then i rarely run adjustables on a hydraulic cam, if there are no major assembled height differences the stock rockers work fine.I think 1/8th turn may cause some clatter.

I have always used the 1/8 method on FE's wiht adjustable rockers. 427 factory or aftermarket.A little morning sickness is all the noise that you will get, but a few hundred more usable RPM. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link
