I just spoke with Phil ('the man', suposedly) at Flatlander Racing about a 331 stroker kit... he said that a 289 block would have clearance issues with the 3.250" crank's counterweights. I'm not one to go questioning a pro, but is this true? I already have two 289 blocks, neither one is a HiPo casting, unfortunately. I'd rather not have to buy another block...

As far as I know, other than bellhousing bolts (some 289s have 5 some have 6) the only difference is the lack of the extended cylinder skirt that a 302 has. It would seem to me that a 289 has more clearance. John
