I Have a set of 1965 289 heads and they look different than the 1965 289 heads in my brothers mustang. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what i have: the numbers on top are C5AE8 and C5AE15 thanks[This message has been edited by 2BAD6568s (edited 02-28-2002).]

You're missing a letter prefix...C5AE, for example. The 'C' denotes 1960's production, 'D' is 70's, 'E' is 80's, etc. The second number (C5...AE) is 1965, the specific year. Get it? [This message has been edited by V8 Thumper (edited 02-28-2002).]

Id bet C5AE-B is the 1 probably for sure. The other 1 Im not positive on. Tony

I Cleaned the heads up today and the only numbers on them are on the top underneath where the valve covers go beside the studs. It just says 5AE8 and the other is the same way with 5AE15 I thought that was strange. If anyone has any info please reply!

The casting numbers will be on the underside, on an intake port

OK, I finally looked on the bottom and found out they are C5AE-B heads. Is there anything special about them? thanks

Yes they are very special. What all have you done to your heads? what type of springs and studs do you have?
