i run a sbf with a rpm (dual plane) intake. 60ft=1.60 et=7.60 1/8 @88mph. if i change to a torker (single plane) how much difference will i see in my 60 ft and total time? i am trying to soften my launch some for more consistancy. thanks in advance------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.56 @88mph 1/8 1.56 60 ft.

It will probably pick up Mike. It wil make more power overall with a Torker so you won't kill much at all. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link

Hey Mike. Are you running a 289-302 or a 351w? If you are running a 351w, I know where you can pick up a Torker II pretty reasonable.

by the way, this is not a torker II. it has a 1976 patent stamped on the bottom. will this matter? also how will this intake affect my jetting? do you think i will have to go leaner or richer? thanks------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.56 @88mph 1/8 1.56 60 ft. IS THE CARB MOUNTING PLATE CROOKED A LITTLE IF SO IT IS THE ORIGINAL TORKER WHICH I HAVENT TESTED BUT ID THINK IT WOULD BE A LITTLE BETTER ON TOP END THAN THE TORKERII------------------ Josh 67 coupe with 351c 94 Explorer 30 model A currently rustbucket in process 67 convt with efi 5.0 and t5

Yeah it matters Mike. Is it a crooked deal where the carb sits on an angle? If it is then DO NOT use it Mike. It is junk. That is the original Torker 289. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link

That's odd...At one time I had a Torker II on my engine. It made very little low-end and midrange, but did okay up top. After switching to the original Torker 289 (with a little radiusing work done to blend the plenum into the port roof, and the heat riser welded off) the engine ran MUCH better than it did with the Torker II. I haven't been able to find anyone that really likes the Torker II. In an OLD Super Ford dyno test of 302 intakes, the Weiand Accelerator, which is pretty much identical to the Torker, except the carb sits straight, made the most power. The Victor Jr. was not tested (not out yet). The original Torker was not tested (discontinued), and none of the larger dual planes (Stealth, RPM, etc) were out yet, either. I sold it to a buddy for $82 (it's all he had, and I owed him a favor) who picked up 4 tenths after replacing a small dual plane with it. All you're going to be out is a set of gaskets. You don't even have to pull the distributer if you're careful. It may or may not run better, but you'll at least learn something from the experience. My bet is your existing intake will probably work a little better since with the Torker 289, the flowpath to a couple of those corner cylinders will have a serious "kink" at the intake/head interface, but ya' never know.... Go for it!! If you want to try it, the Torker should move your torque range up about 500 rpms and increase your throttle response which might make your launch a little smoother and more consistent. I think it's worth a try but don't expect any miracles though. The RPM is the 1000-6000rpm HP leader among SBF intakes. Have fun!! BS

Good luck! We had to cut the top off and straigten ours out to make it work almost as good as a C90X. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link

Hey Alex, I have a copy of the C90X that is called " Colt 500 " and it kicks butt!! I cracked it one day trying to get it to seal on a set of highly shaved heads. I had to purchase an RPM to replace it that weekend and haven't had it fixed yet. I think I remember loosing 1.5 mph with the switch, but e.t. stayed the same. I gotta get that baby welded up so I can try it on my little 289/331 stroker when it's finished. Here's a nice piece: intake BS

You can try a plenum devider to regain some of your lost bottom end Mike, but I would switch the intake back. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link
