Try closer to 3K. A 65's V-8 shipping weight is 2841.

Another point to keep in mind is that Fords "shipping weight" is VERY optimistic. The shipping weight on my various Fords are usually at least 200 lbs lighter than a typical in the real world street car. a couple of examples: My 70 Mustang FB (351C,PS, PDB)weighed 3340 lbs, compared to the 2899 lb shipping weight, my 70 Mach1 (428CJ, 4speed, PS,PDB)weighed 3620lb`s, compared to 3406 lb shipping weight.
The shipping weights are normally based on a zero option car, with the base powertrain, & no fluids. NHRA lists different weights for the various trim packages, as well as specific engines & sometimes transmission choices. But you would be very hard pressed to get a non lightened street car close to the NHRA minimum.

------------------
78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph
80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph
85 Mustang NHRA Stocker under construction, 302 5 speed

The curb weight of a 67 6 cyl, 3 spd is, are you ready, 2696, on the next page the cvg car, same equip, etc crub weight is 2856. The 67 Illustrated fact and spec manual is a reprint of a salesmen fact book. It seems a bit light to me. A V-8 automatic would add about 200 lbs????

my 67 coupe scaled at 2850 when it had an old 302, 3 speed manual, and 8 inch rear. there was no spare tire or jack, and the car is manual everything, no power options. the car wasnt stripped out. the ONLY pieces missing were the spare and jack.
