One of the front running cars today was the R&S No. 36 prototype. I think the announcers made some mention that it is powered by a Ford derived engine built by Robert Yates. However, they refer to this engine as an "6.0 Elan engine". Can anyone shed some light on just what this Elan racing engine is all about and whether it is really related to any Ford engine.

Speculation of course, but my guess is it is fancy talk to please the investors who don't know their millions went into just a .030" over rebuild of a Winston Cup motor... i think ELAN is maybe an acronym for "Eloquent Language for Aristocratic Nitwits"
