I ran across a link the other that explained the 9" cases, but I can't find it tonight. I know this isn't the prised N case of the 70's, but can some give me a clue as to the case strength and cost? A fellow has one with 4.11's, non daytone pinion suport and 31 sline D-locker for $450. Good buy or not?

I thought the war case was the weak one. Anyway, the gears and the detroit might be worth it. SteveW

The WAR case might work OK on the street, but I wouldn't hit it too hard on the track. The Detroit Locker is cool, though.

That is what I was thinking also. I think those parts are worth that. Trying to see what the least he will take for it.Would hate to buy it and then spend the money for new caps and not get the daytona pinion support replaced also. Anyone have any N cases laying around? I use to have a few but sold all my stuff off a few years ago. I guess it is time to go 'junkin'.

I've used WAR cases (3.062 bearing) in my Comet for the last 16 years, the only time I've ever broken a case is at the little pinion support bearing where I had ground on it to clear the ring gear. I like to clearance the ring gear now instead of grind on the case. I don't run a transbrake though....not yet, I might find they're junk when I start hitting it with a brake.------------------ Butch 460 powered 1967 Comet Cyclone 10.271 @ 130.069 Butcher's Home Page "Friends don't let friends drive Chevys"
