I installed a Pete Jackson nosiey gear drive in my stroker BB, it is the first gear drive set-up Iv'e owned. I notice above 2500rpm I start hearing a high pitch whistle type sound, im wondering if it is the gear drive or if the dual carb set-up sounds this way as air passes through the carbs. You can always hear the gear drive but there's a distinct change in pitch in the engine as rpm increases. Sounds like a jet engine spooling up, actually it sounds pretty cool  I was mostly concerned about a possible vac. leak somewhere making this noise, or does a gear driven cam just sound like this.

Yep, that whining/whistling sound is the gear drive functioning normally. I have a friend who wanted to scare ricers away, and he figured that the whistle of a gear driven car and a supercharged car are similar... voila! To the best of my knowledge, that's totally ok!  ------------------

My 86 Capri has a B&M gear drive and that's the way they sound. Neat!! RAY------------------

Humm.....ok, then between all the noises im hearing from the radical cam, gear drive and exhaust, they all add up and equal to: One Nasty Sounding Radical bitch!!! ...Thats COOOOOL..Im lovin it!.... heh heh heh Gave my neigbor a ride in the car, next time he said he will wear his depends....LOL LOL LOL [This message has been edited by Gary (edited 11-21-2001).]
