I'm in the process of putting a 5 spd. behind a 68' 289.I got the 5 spd. from the flywheel back from an 89 GT.Will the dampner on the 289 work or will I have to use the one from the 89'?If either wont, what one will?Any help is appreciated.

The 89 302 is a 50 oz balance speedy, and the 289 is a 28 oz. You will need to use an early 28 oz flywheel. You cannot just install a 50 oz ballancer and flywheel on an early engine.

They are fairly plentiful in junk yards. Lot's of 28 oz stick shift six cylinder trucks were sold down your way.
