I'm going through a Holley R3259 from a 65 GT-350. I'm at a road block on float heights. There is no external adjustment, or site plugs. I have went through about every Holley book trying to find the setting for the floats but no luck. Its the old take the float out and bend the tab, trial and error. Anyone got any reference material that could get me a start. The carb was refurbished by Pony and run very rich.Mike

I have the specs in my "old" Holley manual. Remind me tomorrow and I'll get it from the shop for you. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00 & '01 Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link

Alex, have any luck finding anything?I picked up some info off an old Holley sheet calling for float settings of 3/8" on primary and 1/2 on secondary. The part that I'm questioning now is an 8.5 power valve. With the cam that is in the motor, it is only pulling 9" of vacuum at idle. I think the 8.5 would add to his rich problem. I'm thinking more like a 6.5 or 5.5, what do you think? Mike

I'll go and find the float level spec right now. Do NOT use any more than a 6.5 power valve. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00 & '01 Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link

13/32 is what my old Holley book says. That is from the top of the float bowl. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00 & '01 Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link

I about wore the float bowl bracket screw holes out trying to get the damn float settings. We are spoiled with the externally adjusted floats. I put a 6.5 power valve back in. I can't understand why Holley would call for an 8.5 unless the carb was never intended for street driving, or the oringinal 289 had good vacuum at idle. Thanks, Mike
