How's it going guys and girls? This is my first post, and I would like your opinions. I have both a 302 and a 351 Windsor, and I can't really decide which way to go. Some say go with as many cubic inches as you can, and while that makes sense I've seen some 302s run just as good as some of the 351s. My plans are CompCams 544/544 retro-fit roller cam, somewhere around 11:1 compression,Victor jr intake, Dart sr heads and nitrous. I'll probably limit the nitrous to 200 hp. I'll be running an automatic tranny (C4), and a 3.90 ring and pinion. Thanks

Welcome to M&M!

Go with the 351W. There's no replacement for displacement.

With the heads to make one work, it's hard to beat the 351W... especially when it comes to nitrous. Those larger 1/2" bolts make head gaskets a LOT easier to keep in place.

Welcome to M&M, looks like we are neighbors, I'm in Douglasville, really closer to Hiram than Dville.
Go for the 351W, costs a few dollars more to start but more cubes means more power.
Give me a yell sometime.

welcome gator, (hope that dont mean fl. gators! hee hee) i got a 302 that runs in the mid 7s 1/8 on motor only. but if you really want to go fast, go with the 351 for cubes. its good to have another ga. boy on the site.

Thanks a lot guys, I was leaning toward the 351, I guess I just needed to hear it. ccode67, It looks like we're pretty close to each other. I live off Hwy 92 between Williams Lake RD & Ridge Rd. capri man, you guessed it I'm a die-hard GATOR fan!!(don't hold that against me) I'm not quite sure what I'm going to end up putting this motor in. I'm looking for an early Ford. The only car I have right now is a 69 Nova (don't ask)

I also vote for the 351w.

Why not put it in the Nova! That'd be one way to make a Chebbie run.

steve66,
Believe me that's crossed my mind more than once. There's a lot of guys around here with small block "chebbies" in late-model Mustangs, and they seem to think that somehow improves the car. The Nova was my blind venture into the world of chevrolet. I'm back for good now. I had a 350 in the Nova that was a big disappointment to say the least. I'll put it this way, I had a mild 302 in an 85 Mustamg that would run off and leave this Nova. The Nova weighs 3270 with me in it, and the Mustang weighed 100 lbs less. It seems like 48 more cubes would have made that up. The Mustang ran 11 ohs on the bottle, The Nova runs 11.70s with better heads, cam and intake

You work at Austell Gas. Do you know Craig Foster? He worked there but is now with Atlanta Gas, he is my brother but don't hold that against me okay. Also Chris Hunter? I hang out at his uncle's body shop pretty often.
You probably drive right past my house all the time, #407, brick house in the curve where mailboxes are never safe.

Hell yeah! ... I say put the 351W in the Nova... get a set of those valve cover adapters the "327 Cobra" guys use to put Cobra valve covers on their smallblock Chevs, install them upside down so you can use Chevy valve covers... Chevy guys ain't smart enough to tell the difference!

Yeah, I can imagine the look on the faces of these die-hard chevy guys!! ccode67, I never met Craig, but I've heard some stories:>) I do know Chris Hunter. I really like Chris! We fished a Gas Company bass tournament together. We had a blast. At one time he was catching fish so fast that I only had time to take them off the hook and put them in the livewell. I stop by his uncle's body-shop sometimes too. Jerry's a good guy too. Man it's a small world!!!

If you hang out at the body shop we have probably seen each other at least once, definitely a small world.
