I have read all the old posts on converters and from what I think I learned is If I run the old converter from the 302 stock setup it should give some kind of a stall of about 800 over stock? with same tranny with a mild-351w

A larger engine making more torque will stall higher than a weaker engine with the same convertor.
If it makes enough torque at 2000 rpms it could stall it 800 higher, but 400 higher is probably more realistic.

An old GM trick was to use a Vega converter behind a small block. Wala, a low buck stall converter.

When I put the converter from a '72 140 hp 302 behind my 351C 4V, it was a wonderful thing!

------------------
'70 Mustang Mach 1 M code 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 open
'72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Lok
'94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip
'97 Probe GTS 2.5L DOHC {Wife's car...}
All Fords since 1977
