Here's the combination I was running before the cracked piston skirts: .030" L2379F Pistons D1AE-GA castings with guide plates Crane F-246 Flat Tappet .570" Intake .590" Exhaust 282 and 292 at .020" 246 and 256 at .050" 71 degrees of overlap 108 degree LSA ARP rod bolts ARP main studs oil gallery restrictors Edelbrock Torker Holley 3310 Carb w/ secondary metering block generic 1.75" Headers FMX w/3500 stall 4.11 Detroit Locker All this is in a 67' short bed F100 that weighs 3600 lbs. I used to turn it to about 6500 rpm. I have a new COMP Cam still in the box with the following specs: 32-644-5 Flat Tappet .589" Intake .615" Exhaust 294 and 304 at .020" 256 and 266 at .050" 87 degrees of overlap 106 degree LSA Any thoughts? I want this thing to "haul" when it goes back together. I have/had a similar combo in a 3600# 73 'stang with a 4sp though. I ran 3 tenths better with a 850 dp carb right out of the box than I did with a 780 vaccuum sec. carb I also run 2 in headers with 4.86 gear and a 28 inch tall tire high 11's @116 mph crossing the line @6800 rpm shifting @7000 My cam was 246 /256 @ 50 and 605 571 lift Its also in 4 degrees advanced to help the low end. my peak torque was 424 @5000 peak hp was 468 at 6800 ------------------ D French 67 427 Fairlane(A/SA) 73 Mustang 351c

I ran that cam in a 2v headed motor for one season and it worked real good. Shifted it at 7000 and with 10.4-1 compression on alcohol it ran 10.55 in extremely good air.

Well....it's a race only car that only weighs 2800 lbs or so with me in it. I had a 5800 convertor, 5.00 gear, 32x13.5W Hoosiers, went thru the lights about 7200 rpm. It had 2v heads with stock valve sizes, and no port work. The carb is a re-worked 750 that flows 920 cfm and was converted to alcohol by BG. I ran Hooker super comp headers, Borla 3 1/2" mufflers, and an old offey intake that I cleaned up the plenum and runners in. The car normally ran high 10.70's , low 10.80's. (That day it went 10.55 was ridiculously good air, the best I have ever seen)

I raced a stroked 351-C .30 over 5.7 eagle rods, strip dominator, 1050 dominator, 4V heads with BB valves and fully ported and polished (for sale), 5500 tci stall, glide (1.76) w/brake, 4.88 gear on 32.5 inch eagles.Engine was originally buit in 1990 without the eagle rods and the heads were mild to thorough at the time and the car ran 6.70-6.80s in the 1/8 @ 102. This engine lasted until 1999, never had taken the heads off!!! I made over 800 passes on the motor with no rebuild. In 2000 I decided it was time to go fast so I took the heads to an Pro Mod engine guy (no identity) and he really worked the heads and matched the strip dominator intake. Had the block decked, new MSD billet distributor. To make a long story short something wasn't right and I broke the crank on the 12th pass. It broke in the front two cylinders, split the front of the block all the was to the distributor. Cracked the cylinder walls vertically in the front two cylinders. The bottom end was all done by a major engine shop in the south. I had a SFI damper from Summit on the engine and some seem to blame that, I don't know. How much power will a cleveland block withstand? I think KidVishus probably has the answer. I have decided to go with the 460. Good Luck! ------------------ Russ Hood 70s Maverick S/Pro https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/SG236.html
