Hey Guys, If you go to prestage.com and click on car math they have a gear ratio calculator where you plug in all your variables and it spits out the answer. This way you don't have to wait until someone asks for your peak rpm, tire diameter etc. It's quick and accurate. I had a formula around here but where it is now is anyones guess.------------------ Paul Garant "No replacement for displacement."

Shell,Yes, try the on-line calculator. I think 4.11s are too tall for the 1/8 mile. We run that gear in the 1/4mi and are at 5800rpm through the traps in Mels 12 sec car, 110mph 26" tire. With your auto you also have to figure on some trans slip. She'd probably be around 6200rpm thru the traps with an auto. I'll guess you'll end up with 4.56 gears. SteveW

When my car (69 Mustang) was small tired I ran it with 4.56 gears when I was running 26" slicks. That was with a 4500 stall 10" converter. Was shifting at 6500, crossed at 6400.Went to a 28" tire and changed to a 5.14 gear. Was using an 8" converter that stalled at 5400. With a little tighter converter it would bring the rpms down a little, but I shifted at 6800, crossed at 6700 in 3rd (C-6)in the 1/8 Later, David Cole

Yes Alex, we run a Moser 9" in the car. We also run 28-10.5-15 M/T slicks. I only turn my car about 5500rpm. Running 7.35 at 94-95 mph SHell

4.71's or 4.86's will be fine in 1/8th mile applications. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00 & '01 Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link
