I want some Edelbrock heads for the 67 with 289, will I need to notch the pistons if I use the #6025's with 2.02 valves?I heard that someone rents the equipment to notch the pistons while in the block, some kind of fixture that bolts down like the head with a cutter in the valve guides, has anyone else heard of this? Or... should I go with the 1.90 valve heads?

I left out some info, these heads will eventually be used on a 351w, maybe a stroker but still mild enough to drive, 408 ci ? Camshaft will be similar to the old 289 hipo or maybe just a little more duration. 3.50 gear and 5 speed

The 2 inch valve heads will NOT make anymore power with the camshaft that you are planning on using. They would be overkill. They need a HUGE cam and induction system to be of any benefit. Go with the 1.90 units for both combos. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00 & '01 Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link

I'm not sure what you are planning for the 408CI stroker so maybe you do need more flow down the road but with the cam you are talking about I don't think you will have any clearance issues. I don't know the specs but I believe you will have clearance for a bit more than .500 lift without notching the pistons. As always though clay just to be sure.I needed notching with my last motor with TFS heads and a .540 list cam.

270S or H COmp is my "pat" choice for most S&S combo's with medium heads. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00 & '01 Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link

Thanks guys, more info helps a bunch, I'll probably go with the #6022 heads and I'll check the specs on those cams. Thanks, Stu.------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 67 stang 5 speed 91 f-150 xlt 98 explorer xlt sohc v-6
