I recently purchased a 7AL2 ignition control(used of course) . MSD has a "coil compatability list" showing different brands of coils that will work with the 7AL2. I'm looking at the MSD Pro Power, but it seems to be about $20.00 more expensive than other brands that "seem" to be similar. Should I just stick with the MSD or is there something available just as good from Jacobs, Mallory, Accel, Crane that will perform just as well or better? (I'm planning on spending a little bit of time on the street, too.) I'm cheap, but I don't want to compromise performance!

I wouldn't run the MSD Pro Coil on the street very much....they get very hot when run for long periods of time.

I run a MSD Pro Power HVC coil on my race car and I really like the way it works. It is a bit more money, but it claims it can be used on a street driven car.

Ditto on what kid says, I have the same one, although I don't have any street stuff.

cheap guy tip... the factory coil on EFI Fords looks exactly like some brands of "trick" coils... unboltable from any wrecking yard Taurus/Tempo/T-Bird doesn't matter one size fits all.

Thanks for the input guys! My current coil is a Blaster 2F.(old). I want the Pro Power HVC that Vishus recommended in the worst way, but at $109.75, I'll have a hard time convincing the accounting department(wife)
. So unless you guys talk me out of it, I think I'm going to invest in the Crane PS92 @$66.95(summit). I can't recall ever hearing anything bad about Crane's electronics. By the way, I'm shooting for May 3(Test and Tune) for my first trip in the 10's! Wish me luck!
