If I put my battery in the trunk do you run the red and black MSD wiring all the way to the trunk or just the ground wire and run the power wire to the power side of the solenoid?

Solenoid is fine, just use a volt meter and make CERTAIN that you are getting 12 volts. That's the way it is on MM by the way, before every "EXPERT" shoots the proceedure/practice down!
