A friend of mine has a -78 fairmont 302/c4, with 11-7/16 bc flexplate.We need to buy a converter for this car, but can someone tell me if the dip-stick location matters when you order a converter. I would love to get a part number,this is a mild bracket car.ET 14-15 sec. Hans

If it has 11 7/16 bp the dipstick should go into the pan at the side. I think the only difference in converters is the bolt pattern. The 10.5 bolt pattern c-4 went into the case.

All of the C-4 converters will fit the front of the trans the same. The 11&7/16 bolt pattern is for the 164 tooth flywheel generally which is usually a pan fill case. Aftermarket flywheels have both the 10 7/8 and the 11 7/16 bolt pattern drilled into them.
