I always have run a power valve in my 800 DP mostly to keep the plugs cleaner running around the pits. When I got my new moter together with a healthy roller cam it didn't have enough vacuum to hold the valve shut so I switched to a 2.5 valve, figuring since it is a race only moter at wide open throttle the valve would be open and closed at idle.I told this to a friend, and he said to be carefull running the low vacuum power valves because at the big end of the track the vacuum could come back up and close the valve causing the motor to lean! Never have ran a vacuum gauge in the car going down the track,(may have to) what do you guys think? Roger

You definitely want to be careful. If you are starting to run out of air flow in your carb it could happen. What is your idle vacuum? I have about 9 inches of hg,and I am running a 5.0 P.V. in mine. It seems to work ok. This is something to be very careful of,so monitor it closely.------------------ '85 Capri Cleveland powered carburetted '72 Pinto CARBURETTED,draw thru turbo 4 cylinder. I don't like to use anything less than a 3.5 or 4.5 PV normally. 2.5's are generally used in extreme conditions where ultra high overlap cams are used or in certain circle trac carb applications. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link
