I've heard that a popular swap is attaching the 850 base plate to a 750 body. Is this more than a bolt-on, requiring differnt boosters, etc.? And what are the advantages over just putting on a stock 850DP on my motor? I'm running a 351W/clev 4Vheads at 3100# and shifting at 7500. I was wondering if this mod would help in the lower rpm's and still not sacrifice in the uppers compared to a straight 850?

It used to be a very popular swap before Holley got into the race carb business. It would effectively increase the 750's flow to about 780 CFM without over carburating the engine as an 850 might do. You would be better served in purchasing one of Holleys new "race ready" carbs in the 770 to 830 CFM range.

I believe their 950HP has 750 sized throttle bores and a 850 sized baseplate with a bunch of smoothing and re-contouring thrown in. Everyone I've spoken with that has used the thing has loved it.

Good Luck!

I had a 950HP on my 4v cleveland and I loved it. It was worth .3 in the 1/8 over my standard 750 DP. With the 4v cleveland heads, you are not going to have much bottom end torque. Unless it's a stroker.
