They were higher compression 428 CJ's with better flowing heads sodium filled exhaust valves. The Canadian engines also did not require thermactor systems. They were built from 1968 to 1970. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link

COOL!Why were we so lucky? How can you tell if you have one of these? Are they worth more for a stocker application ie) are they class legal? ------------------ Fred 68 Mustang 500CID/Powerglide - "No Tubs" 86 Mustang GT Cobra

Fred, a traditional 428 CJ 'Mustang runs SS/F or SS/G. The Canadian head 428 runs SS/E in a '68 Mustang. I have a pic of such a car, and will post it here when I find it Mike Stock 1302 NHRA/330 IHRA/ 364 M&M

They are indeed more valuble than a regular USA version CJ. The NHRA/IHRA rates the Canadian versions at 375 HP as opposed to the regular ones at 360 HP. With or without ram air. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link
