Ive been thinking of picking up a spot welder but in the back of my mind I cant justify the cost. My Dad has a Miller Mig set up with argon and was wondering if this was used to do plugs will it be just as good as a spot welder? Talking about the ease of accomplishing the work and strength.

The plugs from a Mig will be better than the spot welder. I bought a spot welder from Eastwood and they're ok, but the ones you make with a Mig looks better and are stronger, at least in my experience.

I'm thinking real hard here (smell the smoke? ) .....

Of all the places I've been I'm trying to remember seeing a spot welder that wasn't covered with dust.
