Does anyone know what the relationship between Comp Cams and Powerhouse tools (http://www.powerhouseproducts.com/) is? Powerhouse is located next to Comp Cams and all the tools in Comps catalog are in Powerhouse's as well. Has anyone used any of Powerhouse's products? I'm looking to get a few things (valve spring compressor, telescoping gauges, etc.) and am wondering if the stuff they sell is of good quality. Any other good sources of automotive specialty tools for the hobbyist? Thanks, Dan Jones

I have ordered a few things from Comp Cams that are the same in the Powerhouse catalog. I don't know for certain, but they must be the same. Most are quality tools.-Tavia Performance Products- -Smart Racing Tools- -Central Tools, Inc.- ------------------ I am looking for information concerning factory performance/speed parts used on the MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) Engine Series (383-410-430-462) from 1958 thru 1968.

Thanks for the input. I'm placing an order shortly...On your MEL search, do you have the Hot Rod magazine book on "Tuning the Big Block Fords"? It's mostly early FE stuff but also has some MEL info and pictures of a stroker crank, multi-carb induction, Latham supercharger, etc. See also: http://members.tripod.com/lyc_42/fordv8/mel/mel.htm Dan Jones

Sorry for the late reply. I have ordered from Powerhouse many times. Good products and good services. Not sure on the relationship to Comp Cams. I think they are just next door in an Industrial Park type setting. There are a few others in there also. I once placed and order direct with Comp for a custom solid roller. I happened to mention to the salesman that all the mail order places I had called were out of the particular Fel-Pro head gaskets I needed. He said no problem, they could get them. When the order came the head gaskets were in a box that said XXX? and XXX? Racing Engines. The address was on the same street as Comp and only about 3 numbers different. Later, David Cole
