Oh boy, welding thin-gauge sheet metal sucks What wire are you using? If it's .035 or .032, it's too big; you'd need more heat to strike an arc with that big a wire. Try some .025, turn the voltage down. On welding two different gauges, I'll keep the tip on the thick side, angled slightly tward the thin side. Fill those gaps first with quick little arc strikes, grind down the high spots and then bead ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

It's because people ask them in the tool section. Sam's Place is intended to be a non-tech forum. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com
