I've been wanting to buy a vacuum cleaner for my workbench, then I remembered I bought a Black&Decker 12v car vac a long time ago {20+ years! } and never used it much because the exhaust blew all the dust around. I combined it with a Radio Shack 12v/120v converter I had laying around and I went from having two items hanging around that I never used to having a high performance vac for my benchtop.
I keep the voltage converter on my bench now, and I've been using it to test electrical components I've been working on. The vac sits on top of it, and I go from a filthy benchtop to a surgical table in seconds!
