I just bought a parts washer from the auto parts store, it works great, 8 gallons of mineral spirits, it has a pump and you can use it like a soaking sink also, $69 for the unit but $25 for the mineral spirits.------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 67 stang 5 speed 91 f-150 xlt 98 explorer xlt sohc v-6

Nice! I wouldn't mind having one of those. Especially after trying to wash my bellhousing and other assorted nuts, bolts, and small parts and covers. Is the mineral spirits the best agent available? Or is there a different solvent that can be used? Stewart

After talking to several people that have tanks at their shops, transmission, body ,and mechanic shops, they were all using straight mineral spirits from the hardware store. I'm not sure if Safety Clean will sell their solvent but it is easier on the hands, my brother uses theirs in his print shop only because OSHA checks his shop pretty often, he has to pay a monthly fee and they come and swap out the tanks every 4 months.

I wish I had thought of ZEP when I was ready to get the solvent, they have a major distribution center about ten miles from home and I could have stopped by on my way home from work, it will be several years before I have to change to some clean solvent, I'll just file that away till then.------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 67 stang 5 speed 91 f-150 xlt 98 explorer xlt sohc v-6
