Reading the post on spot welders reminded me of a hood that I have been using for a while. I bought an auto dimming hood from Harbor Freight that works well. It is called the chameleon, it normally sells for about $160-170, but you can catch it on sale for $130 once in a while. It has an adjustment from shade 9-13, and has a solar panel to charge the batteries. You have to place it in BRIGHT SUNLIGHT for about 20 min. before first use or after not using it for a while. It also has a 3 year warranty. I saw a Lincoln welding rep using a hood available through Lincoln, but the auto dimming mechanisn sure looked like the one on mine. I know that harbor freight has some poorly made import crap, but they do have some quality stuff also. This hood has been well worth the money. Thanks, Tom

Anyone lacking welding skills as much as me needs all the help they can get. The automatic dimming hood is something I won't ever be without again. Pat------------------ If you can't afford to do it right, how can you afford to do it again?
