Alex, Are these production pieces you are looking for? If so you might want to try a "take off" parts place, salvage place like Mustang parts Specialties inc. their web site is stangparts.com and their phone #is 770-867-2644. If I am wrong about the parts just say so. Bob

I'll give them a try Bob as they are indeed production parts. Probably 40% of the Fox cars use the aluminum pieces. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Hmmmm... around here, I`d say less than 4% of the 79-82 Mustang/Capri`s had them! Alex, if you haven`t found an aluminum F bumper by the M&M meeting in Bellvue Wash. next year, I`ll bring one down for ya. I may even find another one between now & then. ------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA Stocker under construction, 302 5 speed 59 Meteor (Canadian Ford) 2 dr sedan 332, auto 74 F350 ramp truck 390 4spd

What is the weight savings between the two?Seeing that I have an 82 gt just sitting outside, and the ragtop is a pig, any weight saving is a good thing ------------------ Ed Heart mods:Trick High flow titanium valve ported & polished Listen close: "tic tic tic" No folks thats not a noisy lifter thats the sound of big flow! 1984 5.0L LX Conv 3600 lbs 13.41 at 101.89 SIR My Homepage Black Sunshine Racing

Alex, have you considered using one of the fiberglass bumpers from the later foxes.I got one from a wrecked 88 lx coupe, and it will require some fabrication to make up brackets for the signals in the front ,but it should save about the same amount of weight.I'm not sure which ones had these bumpers ,but they might be easier to find than the aluminum ones. Scott, the NHRA tech dept. scrutinizes us very carefully. The aluminum units were direct bolt ins and were indeed available from 79-89. Any modifications to a later glass unit would be deemed as an unacceptable modification or replacment. Thanks for your advice though. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." 79' Pace Cars had aluminum rear bumpers. Some may have also come with aluminum front bumpers, but I can't verify that. I believe SVO's had aluminum front bumpers. The vast majority of the regular fleet got steel units. If the information I read last night is correct, SVO's did not get aluminum bumpers. Also, they stopped using the aluminum bumper when 10 MPH bumpers were mandated by the government. So this makes 79 or 80 the last year for aluminum 5 MPH bumpers. Like I said, if the info I read last night is correct.
