It will bolt to some early cars, but not before 1964 because those use a 5 bolt bell housing. I am not sure about the cross member, but it would work with a stock shifter because it has park, reverse, neutral, drive, second and first. There is no selector for third, so it has the same number of shift selectors and a C-4 shifter.------------------ Id rather guzzle gas than burn rice

The AOD Josh is a Pre 1990 unit? I did not notice. If so it is 1/2 inch shorter that the C-6 and will need to be in 1 rate shape for 450 LBS torque. I did work on and added a Hi-Stall converter to the one in my 89 Thunderbird-- and was told I could handle Small block or 450lbs. torque now but HP would need to stay under 550-600 unless I got ot redone top to bottom. The newer race types such as Hugh's and some TCI units will take 1,000 HP TCI's are 750HP I think. anyhow they are great unvestment because of the non-leakage construction and no pump problems as the C-6 Can be prome to. That what I have read from the folks that do it, so it works for me. ------------------ Wes

Yes, it is a pre 1990 trans. it is in good shape, but I havent driven it. it is out of a 88 lincoln. It was owned by someones grandma and was never driven hard. It has about 80 thousand miles. It doesnt leak and the inside of the bellhousing is totally clean. it still has the dip stick and the few wires it should have. It has three forward gear selections so it will work with the stand alone 65 mustang shifter I have also if some one wants it.------------------ Id rather guzzle gas than burn rice
