A racing buddy needs a manual steering center link for his early model 70 Maverick (ign. switch in dash model, if it matters)

Yes it does matter. That steering linkage is unique to the 69.5 Maverick. Your friend might consider swapping the entire steering linkage assembly from a 1970+ including the pitman arm if he can find a parts car.
