Hello, I am very new to your boards and some what new to old fords. I just bought a 1966 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland. The guy installed roller rockers and said he adjusted them, but they still sound noisy. Also I cant tell if the passenger side bank has a bad piston or if it is just and exhaust leak. Is it normal for old fords to drip water in the exhaust? Sorry to be such a newb here. I would greatly appreciate any and all help. Thanks Here is what is in the car. comp cam/ .570 lift .292 duration sainless steel valves 2.19intake 1.77 exaust cc and flow tested kline guides and plates harland & sharp roller rockers melling high volume oil pump dual remote oil filters holly street dominator intake ports matched and flow tested 800 CFM holley double pumper carter super fuel pump mallory uniltie distributor t5 borg/warner 5speed transmission motorsport short throw shifter motorsport heavy duty clutch motorsport flywheel and bell housing 1" sway bar disc brakes front and rear 9" rear end w/ 4.10 gearslimited slip lakewood chrome traction bars trunk mounted battery tach w/ shift light and rev limiter new tires front 193/70 R14 rear 245/60 R15

Gee...sounds like a pretty nice engine if it was put together properly, snug up all your header bolts first maybe the slap/leak with go awayMy old Fords spit lots of water on my garage floor no biggy ,water is actually a byproduct of combustion, now if you said you had a plume of water vapor and air bubbles in your radiator I would say we have a problem. Aftermarket roller rockers will have a sound. If you hear a ticking though the valve lash could be out of adjustment if it is a mechanical lifter cam. If it has hydraulic lifters you don't need to adjust them, and if you have a tick with the hydraulic lifters it could be a lifter that is sticking (gummed up), lifter preload is wrong, or from some other source. The sound that the rockers make that is normal is just the actuating sound. It doesn't sound as hard as a valve tick. I have shaft mount Harland Sharp roller rockers on my wife's 331 stroker I built for her and they have this sound which is normal, at least for Harland Sharp. Personally I hate to rely on someone else's work so you may want to pull the valve covers and check valve lash or lifter preload. Well stock 351C dont have adjustable rockers, they torque down. If the wrong pushrod length was used and they are too short they can make noise, but SLIGHT noise may be normal. You would need to check the wear pattern on the valve tips, the roller on the rocker should be centered on the valve. Water out of the exhaust is normal when the engine is cold but when its warm (normal temp) you shouldnt get any water. Unless maybe if its cold/humid then you still may. ------------------ Under Construction 66 Coupe - - - 306, 10.2:1, 66 289 heads 1.84/1.50, mild port work, comp cams 270H cam, Performer manifold, Holley 700cfm double pumper, tri-y headers, 2.5 dual exaust w/flows, centerforce dual friction, 8" 2.79 gears, w/mini spool 1/8th mile - 8.6 @ 83mph 351w Stroker in the works

Is it possible though that they are non adjustable pedistal mount? My buddy has pedistal mount scorpion roller rockers on his 4 barrel heads. Although someone who built a 351c should know the diff. so maybe they are adjustable stud mount rockers. I just have heard of some people making this mistake before. ------------------ Under Construction 66 Coupe - - - 306, 10.2:1, 66 289 heads 1.84/1.50, mild port work, comp cams 270H cam, Performer manifold, Holley 700cfm double pumper, tri-y headers, 2.5 dual exaust w/flows, centerforce dual friction, 8" 2.79 gears, w/mini spool 1/8th mile - 8.6 @ 83mph 351w Stroker in the works
