Well, that's new one on me, I've had my 65 for 17's years and have never heard of a X code car. Sounds a little fishy to me..I'd be interested to see if anyone else knows anything about a X code...

The X might make it rare but rare and desirable/valuable are two different things.I'm not sure what the X means on the early cars but IIRC correctly in the 67-68s they had a strange(for mustangs) two barrel 390 engine instead of the normal 4 barrel GT motor.------------------ 68 J-Code,Sprint,306 4 speed,4.11s 13.69@101............... 66 coupe 289 4 speed, 3.20 cruiser http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy2.html

My records show a 352 available only on 58 T-birds. No doubt in my mind this car is not what it says. Looks like a 289 to me.

Why would you sell it at a "buy it now" price of 19,000 if "it may be worth 100,000 dollars"?As said before Rare doesnt mean desirable. I can sell you an extremley rare piece of modern art. I call it "Poo on some tin foil" Its the only one in exsistance, it took me several hours to create from start to finish. It may be worth $100,000. Just gotta find the right buyer...

Its a typographical error.Either they coded it as an 'x' by mistake, or someone is mistakenly reading a 'k' as an 'x'.

He's got a copy of the title there, and it clearly says "X". Not that I believe it. He should pull the fenders up and look at the rest of the VIN numbers. They should be more distinguishable.

I agree with Scott... It's probably just a typographical error and is more common than we think. You've got a lot of suspects--if the fender shows it, then Ford screwed up. If just the title shows it, it probably was an inattentive DMV clerk (sorry if that's redundant).I wonder if someone transcribed the paint color (X-code = vintage burgandy) for the engine code? I believe Mustang Monthly did a piece about the X codes. If I remember correctly (suspect), the X code was a code designating an internal company sale. In other words it was a playtoy for a Ford Manager. They could order it up however they wanted and put things on it that wouldn't belong on a production car, which might explain a 352.

That definitely ain't a 352 in it now.... It's my understanding that an FE won't fit a '65/'66 without major surgery, which is why they made the '67 wider. I don't know what the "X" might mean for the engine code, though....

I hate it for him but he's wasting his time with the DA's office. No crime was committed against anyone in his area. He needs to hire an a-hole lawyer and sue the crap out of this guy. That is if the seller has any tangible wealth. The cash he paid for the car is long gone by now. Of course, ebay offers a vehicle inspection service for $100. Very inexpensive investment on a $19,000 purchase.

I dont mean to sound critical, but I just cant see paying almost 20,000 for a car I have never seen let alone driven. Having said that - the seller is just a plain thief in my book. Hes lying and misrepresenting - what a low life. hes going to upset the wrong guy someday soon and its going to hurt.Im still shocked that anyone would SCREW floorpans into the car.

You know a fella COULD look at the bidders list on the auction, contact each one and send them the link to this thread.I got taken to a much lesser extent by a guy in Texas much the same way. I also found out after the fact that the MCA has Mustang specialists they can refer you to almost anywhere for an inspection. $150 I think. ------------------ 68 coupe, red on black.
