Hi all,for my 66 mustang coupe. i am converting from auto to manual tranny. are there different types of clutch pedal assemblies for my car? Example: are there different ones for power vs. no power brakes? is the pedal assembly different between 66 and 67 (visually)? i purchased an assembly off of ebay and just want to make sure that it is correct. how can i know that it is correct? I am installing a toploader, no power brakes, and manual clutch linkage. any and all info is very much appreciated.

Sorry!for 65 and 66 it makes no difference in the pedal assembly whether its power brakes or not. 67 and up use different geometry under the dash for power brakes, on the 65 and 66 the geometry was handled in the engine compartment with a bracket/bellcrank assembly.

hgufrin, contemplating the same conversion. What are you using as a guide or directions for this conversion? which tranny are you converting to?

The "Disc Brake" on the pedal pad just lets a person know the car has front discs on it . Kinda like a GT badge on the fender . Makes no difference . If you were converting , you only need the automatic brake pedal , you can reuse your original pedal support . You could even use the pedal you have but it would be a small pedal with the clutch not there .

65VA2+2,unfortunately, i have no directions. I just went to ebay and purchased a 66 clutch pedal assembly (i checked and it matches up perfect) for $180; very nice unit. According to crawlerchris, you may be able to use the original pedal support. not sure that I want to get into that though. i am switching to a toploader 4 speed. wanted it to be vintage. the T-5 is not strong enough for the motor I will build. Only good up to 300 ft/lbs torque I believe. I am using manual linkages; Z-bar etc. Bought that off ebay too...

Thank you. Bieng a true novice, I need a good set of directions...at best. Sounds like you have it going! Best of luck with your transition.

I seen a set on there that someone insisted was for a 67-68 but it was definitely not. Maybe it is a 65-66 but I?m not sure. It has been posted a few times with now bids. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/67-68-Mustang-Clutch-Pedal-Assembly_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQihZ019QQitemZ8070159332QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

if i could see the side view that would be the tell tale for me. someone pointed out that in the NPD catalog you can see the difference between the two. so know I know."Happy Mustangin!!!"
