Does the 215 70-14 tire sizes fit a 68 mustang front and rear with 302?

That's the size that came on them, but you can go bigger if you would like.

I know that some 68s came with 70 x 14s, but were they really that wide? Anyhoo, those are the exact tires I put on my 68 recently to go on a long road trip, and keep my deep tranny pan from whacking rocks. No problems.

The problem is when I turned fully esp to the left, I hit the fender lip with my tires

Yeah sorry, I just remembered, I had 205 x 70 on the front. 215 x 70 would be a tight fit on the front. For normal driving, I use 205 x 65 x 14 up front.

I got some 215 14's that I use on rare occasions, but they have NEVER rubbed the fender. Matter of fact, right now I have 15x7 wheels(not sure on B/S) with 245 60R on front and 295R 50's on the rear. I rub on the pass fender, but I don't think it's hung right, and I do get rear rub on medium sized bumps. My next tires are gonna be 225 70 on front and 245 50 on rear, and I should be rub free once I get the fenders right.------------------ William The easiest way to find something lost, is to buy a replacement. 68 Coupe 289 C4 3:55's/Trac-Lok

I am running 225/50/16 on the front of my '68 with no problems even in the turn. I have 245/45/16 on the rear, but needed to have the opening in the rear quarter rolled a little bit otherwise it touched if I hit a good bump.[This message has been edited by CraigStephens (edited 05-13-2006).]

My wife's car is a 66 and I worked out the stock tires size to a 215/70R14 and that is what is on the car, on 7" wide Magnum 500's with no interferance. I am sure you will be safe on a '68.

I would think that with a stock rim that you should be ok providing that your car is sitting at the designed ride height. I think the F70-14 is equivalent to a 215 70-14.------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55

I think my car's height is too low. The prev owner might have lowered the springs. Is the rear leaf of a 6cyl and a v8 the same?
