Some people may love the sensation of the wind in their ears while driving their Mustang, but I've got a problem with it.

Mine isn't a convertible.

Is there a simple way to adjust the windows in my 69 sportsroof to get rid of the annoying "whistle" of the wind? I'd thought it was a matter of new rubber around the doors, but that didn't change anything.

How do the doors close?

Doors close fine. The window mechanisms roll nice and smooth, but it seems like the angle of the glass is off.

Just one of several possibilities is this ... If your car is 67-8 (maybe 65-6 too?), there's a rubber stopper inside at the bottom of the door. If the bottom of the door has been repaired (most have at one time), the rubber and its mount may not have been replaced. That can cause the top of the window to drop open slightly.

My car does that too.
Only when I get above about 90mph, unless the gap gets big then it starts at about 70mph. It can be very annoying. Doors close fine its all in the windows. They drop a tiny amount and leave a gap at the top which whistles.

Yes mine is a 68. The window mechanism really needs rebuilding though, the windows can be hard to crank up but almost wind down under their own weight.

My 65FB does it too, at 65 & up sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel. Thank God for the LOUD exhaust that drowns out the wind!!!

Looks like not only window & door adjustments but bad/missing pieces of weather stripping contributes to it too.

Have we just got used to new cars? I can't remember if that kind of wind noise was normal or not.

Leave it to my wife to provide the most logical answer.

I agree that you can't expect the comfort today in a car that's nearly 40 years old.

However, my passenger-side window definitely seems to be tilted outward. It doesn't meet the forward edge of the quarter glass at all, and it doesn't form a good seal across the top of the window.

On the bottom of the door, underneath where the weatherstrip is, should be a couple of bolts with 1/2" or 9/16" head, and they should be in a slotted hole. Loosen the bolts and push them closer to the outside, tilting the top of the glass towards the inside.

You can adjust the tilt of the window on the bolt below the window which has an allen adjustment at the center of the bolt. It adjusts the window tilt inward or outward.I had a leak problem there when I wash my car and that fixed the problem.

Are you thinking of a 65-68?
Harley has a 69 and I beleive they are adjusted for tilt at the bottom of the door.

I found those bolts at the bottom of the door and it was an easy fix. The glass fits nice and snug against the rubber.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. This is a great site.

That's why you have to have a kick butt system in you mustang.. Cuts right through the wind noise..

The old standard RADIO won't quite cut it..
