Im having a little brain fade. Would a distributor on a 68-302 have a tag similar to a duraspark distributor? Im trying to ID the distributor on the 289 I have but there is no tag. The housing has C8OF-12131-A on it but I think that is just an engineering number. Im going to take another look at it. If its for a 302 4V Im going to hang onto it.------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55

Ok, I Found C8ZF-12127-A with a date of 7G26 (67/Aug/26th). The MPC says its for a 68 302 F, X(4/B, 3/S/T & T/E). I need a little help figuring this out. F stands for Mustang and X stands for a Falcon. Does this mean that it is for any Mustang with a 302 and a Falcon with 4/B, 3/S/T & T/E? Does the 3/S/T stand for a 3-spd standard trans? My coupe originally came with a 302 4V and since it is a California car I would imagine that it had the thermactor on it but my car came with a C4. The car was also built on 02/05/68. I think the 7G26 date might be a little early.------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55 [This message has been edited by 68 S-code GT (edited 12-28-2005).]

So does it fit the Mustang with the same things as a Falcon or is the (4/B, 3/S/T & T/E) ment for the Falcon only? Anybody know what 3/s/t is?

3/s/t is three speed standard transmission. The C8OF-12131-A number won't help much, I'm afraid, because it is the engineering number for the housing, which were used for many different distributors, it were the components that determined the application, so the tags say it all. The C8ZF-12127-A number, however, IDs it as a Mustang part {the Z in C8ZF}. For reasons I'm not quite clear about, while the MPL uses F as identifying Mustangs, on part numbers Ford used Z for Mustangs. So, long story short, you have it ID'ed right. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '05 Mercury Sable LS 3.0L DOHC 24V Duratech V6 [This message has been edited by SteveLaRiviere (edited 12-02-2005).]

On that MPC cd there is an identification chart for distributors and after clicking on V* and 302-351 you can see the chart Im looking at. The distributor has C8ZF-12127-A as an id number and 7G26 as the date. When I look at the chart for C8ZF-12127-A under ID numbers and C8ZZ-12127-A as the part number. It shows 2 distributors for and auto trans with the IMCO and one with the Thermactor (C8ZF-12127-B F(4/B,A/T, & IMCO), C8ZF-12127-D F,X(4/B,A/T, & IMCO), and C8ZF-12127-A F, X(4/B, 3/S/T & T/E)). That is the Id number up there by the date near the cap isnt it?I just assumed that all of the California cars had the thermactor emission on them. There also is no distributor listed for a J-code with a 4 spd either so Im assuming that since this was a copy of the1975 printing that some parts were superseded. Im going to just assume that the distributor is not the original to my car since the date on it is 5 months prior to when my car was built and the original engine isnt in there.

Has anybody seen an ID for a 68 with the 302 4V and a 4spd? I was just curious.
