Don't remember where I left off last time but I have made some progress on my newer motor. I have the intake ready to go on. A timing cover is on the way. I am prepping the block for paint.

A couple of questions on the '95 motor. The balancer that is on the motor, will I be able to use my crank pullie from my 73 motor? I am asking because I saw a part listed in the mustangsandmore mag that suggested that I needed to buy a new one.

also I am going to use my headers from my 73 motor for now (unless someone has a great deal for me). Can I reuse the bolts and do I need a gasket for them? They will fit right?

There will be more as time goes on. I should get a lot done this weekend and the following week as I am off work for a few days.

Thanks very much and have a happy thanks giving.

Richard.

Pulley should work as long as it is a 4 bolt and is the correct depth.
Headers will also fit all windsor heads.
New gaskets is a must!

Thanks Alex.

When I use the headers can I re-use the bolts from the old motor? I thought I heard that you can't.

Also what years of mustangs '79 and up have a v-belt set up, if any? Where would I find a pulley if the one I have does not work? I called summit and the guy told me that my only option was to stay with the serp set up. I don't think he is right.

Thanks

Richard.

Richard,
There were no V-belts for Fox body Mustangs.
You can use your old pulleys if you want (use a 50oz balancer from www.speedwaymotors.com or NPD or similar--these have both the 3 bolt and 4 bolt patterns). In my 5.0L conversion, I'm using all my old pulleys.
You can use the old bolts (as long as they aren't stripped), but chase the threads and lubricate them. They aren't torqued down much, so don't stretch much.

With an 89 HO, was able to use the 65 pulley, brackets, timing cover, etc., but had a 3 bolt 50 oz damper that at the time, got it at Total Performance in Michigan. They are now available at a lot of Mustang parts houses.

I have the four bolt balancer that came witht he '95 motor. Hopeing that there is a four bolt pulley that will work so I don't have to buy another balancer. The ones I have looked at so far are pricey.

Any other suggestions?

Richard.
