Where can I get an ENAMEL paint to match the rest of the interior color on my 68 Mustang. The color is listed as charcoal but seems to be black with a very fine metalic in it. All of the rattle cans of this color that I have seen are lacquer and scratch to easily. Is there a paint mix formula for this color from any paint supplier that any of you guys know of? Any help would be greatly appreciated. [This message has been edited by Rudi (edited 11-21-2005).]

When I acquired my latest car there was a can of interior spray paint from a company called Scott Drake. I'd be willing to bet that anyone of the sponsors at the top of the page have it or can get it, and I believe it's a "perfect" match, at least if you believe what it says on the can Pretty close in my case.------------------ "It's better to have loved a short girl, Then never to have loved a tall" http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/adragon8u.html

Oops, just re-read your post. I believe the stuff I have is lacquer. D***, I meant to just edit that post. ------------------ "It's better to have loved a short girl, Then never to have loved a tall" http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/adragon8u.html [This message has been edited by adragon8u (edited 11-21-2005).]

Lacquer, applied properly, with a good lacquer prime underneath, is long lasting. Consider that the original interior finishes in early Mustangs was lacquer. Enamel, by composition, is thicker and will likely fill in the grain. If that is not important, it's fine. But.....a better lacquer alternative would be single stage urethane. It is easier to handle, has a harder surface, and would probably look better. A check with a paint supplier would determine whether they can add a gloss reducer or perhaps a satin clearcoat.
