I want to have a 347 built for my 68. I have the perfect guy to do it. But I know little about this stuff and his area of expertise is Mopars. So, I want recommendations on parts. From block to pistons to crank to whatever! Tell me what to use and what NOT to use please. The car will be a show car, cruiser. With that said I still want as much HP as I can get within a reasonable budget. Any help greatly appreciated!Regards, Gregg

Throw away the small block and get an "FE". Then your "show car" will get a lot of people noticing it. Then you'll want to drive it instead of look at it.

Gregg, I can't help you with the specifics of what you asked, but I would offer some free advice, keeping in mind that free advice is only worth what you paid for it! Don't have a Mopar guy try to build you a Ford stroker engine. At this point you alredy know more about it than he does. Isn't that kind of scary? Also, horsepower doesn't come cheap. That's the Law of Going Fast. In order to get the kind of power you are dreaming of you'll need to invest a wheelbarrow full of money. If you try to do it inexpensively you will most likely be disappointed in the results.

Try this link. It will probably be cheaper to buy a 347 than have one built.http://www.tandlengines.com/Street_Engines/347_Ford/347_ford.html ------------------ '65 Mustang Fastback converting to '66 GT350H Clone http://www.treasurecoastmustangs.com/edproject/index.html

OK, something doesn't seem right here. For $3,100 I can get a shortblock, or for $3,700 I can get a complete engine with dyno results. Hmmmm, something isn't working for me here. I realize that T&L engine isn't turnkey, but comparing the list of parts, it had Dart heads, distributor, oil pan, valve covers, water pump, harmonic balancer and spark plug wires included. Plus the labour to install them all.I don't understand. [This message has been edited by kinger44 (edited 11-19-2005).]

I figure the FRPP short block uses a new versus "seasoned" block too. I personally wouldn't care about that though. The T&L description says they pressure test the block and all.
