I'm looking into installing an aftermarket Wiring Harness and was looking to see if any of you have ever installed one yourself.. I found one that looks interesting.. It's called Kwik Wire.. Comes with 20 prewired circuits,, so you can run new wire or connect to exising circuits.. You can even get an extension if you want to mount your fuse block in the trunk.. See link for example.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&ite m=8008484648&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT Also gives you the flexibility of not having to Completely replace everything at one time.. You could,, work on the charging system,, then accessories,, etc..
I like the idea of having the panel professionally put together,, and I also like being able segrigate areas you want to work on and don't have to replace everthing before you can drive your vehicle again.. Any comments are appreciated - Not graded.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Metallic Royal Blue & Silver Candy Orange-Red Flames by McGrafix My Pics [This message has been edited by Big D (edited 11-14-2005).]

I re-did mine a coupe years ago. I bought an EZ-wiring kit ( Ebay Link) It ran like $180 including shipping. 18 Fuses, 21 circuits color coded universal, but it was the entire kit (not like the one you mentioned where you can simply cut the ends off and just replace the fuses, it had a lot of wire attached to it). Im not sure this will work for you though. If you think about it, your car has what, like 5 maybe 6 fuses right now and everything else is runing in series with those 6 fuses. I could be wrong but it seems like you would have to do major reconstruction of the harness (read: hack) just to be able to split the circuits up. When I did mine, it took maybe 2 hours to run all the wiring that was *necessary* to get it running and it took me maybe a week to finish the rest off (between going to work and school fulltime there wasnt much time). Whatever you decide, remember to solder the connections if possible, do not use electrical tape (use heat shrink instead) and draw everything). On the kit i got, i had to reuse the old connectors at the wiper switch, ignition switch so get a tool to push the contacts off of them (probably from radio shack or Fry's electronics if you have on close). And of course, have the wiring diagram for your specific car before you start this. Thats all i can think of. Good luck... David..Thanks for the input.. Those are some of the doubts I had also.. The biggest problem I knew I'd have to tackle is the INSTALLER,, ME.. If there's a way to put things off and not complete something,, I have a tendency lean that way.. It's good to hear the EZ Harness worked for you.. I've been looking at those also.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Metallic Royal Blue & Silver Candy Orange-Red Flames by McGrafix My Pics
