I would like to hear recommendations for headers. I have heard not to go with hooker. I want something decent, but don't want to spend too much. Also, need mufflers. How about the flowmasters? Thanks

Not a fan of the sound of Flowmasters-- they have a bad drone IMHO. I like Dynomax-- been wanting to try out Terminators but haven't gotten a chance. Each car I've put exhaust on, someones given me a free set of my mufflers so keeps my options limited. As far as headers, for a cheap set, with reasonable quality, I'd go with Flowtechs. I have them on my '65 and they work well. Fit was fine too. Why wouldn't you go with Hooker's? (besides price)

I've never used Hookers, but lots of folks here have. My understanding is that there are the cheap 'n' cheerful Hookers, and then the Hooker Super Comps, which are superior in every way.

Hookers bad? Have never heard that one. I installed Hookers on my S-code 67. Even though I swapped in a bigger C6 (bigger than the 4sp), there were absolutely no fitment problems or places I had to dent in to clear that huge 390/C6 combo. Best fitting long tube headers I've used to date.

I've got a 69 mustang with hooker super comps. I love the headers until it comes time to pull them out for some reason. Any time I have to pull the tranny, I have to take a header out. This involves pulling a motor mount loose, jacking it up and pulling it out. But, I think just about any header for a 351C in my car would be that way. My next set will still come from hooker.

Perhaps this will help: http://www.stanginfo.com/engineopts/headeroptions_view.php I've heard good things about Hookers and Ford Powertrain Applications but both aren't cheap but you get what you pay for.

One thing you could do is check with Alex "MONEYMAKER".. He can set you up with headers the work for your system..He's a proponate of Long Tube Headers.. He uses Hooker Super Comps on MoneyMaker and recommends them highly.. I believe he also sells FlowTechs for those of us that can't afford the Super Comps.. Good Luck.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Metallic Royal Blue & Silver Candy Orange-Red Flames by McGrafix My Pics

Are 351w full length headers different than the 289/302 ones? I'm in the market for a set of full lengths for my 70 351w and wouldn't mind the ceramic coating. Whats the price difference between the hookers and the flowtechs?------------------ 1970 Grabber Blue Mach 1 H-code 1970 Fastback 2003 Torch Red Mustang

I have hooker comp. (not super comp) headers on my 65. I opted not pay 200-300 more for hooker to triple check their welds and tack the super comp label on. I would invest in the ceramic coating with whatever brand you choose. As for exhaust, I bought my dual exhaust system, complete with turbo muffs. for right around 100 bucks...that would be the summit kit. they sound decent, flow decent, and fit decent....total savings... between 200 and 1200 dollars (dynomax to borla)
