I have a 1965 mustang 289 4 speed. I am having a problem with excessive chatter in reverse only. [shakes the whole car] can anyone help!

First and easiest thing to check is your equalizer bar and associated bushings. There's one on the frame and one on the engine block. Grab the equalizer bar and give it a good shake. Shouldn't be any slop. You might have to disconnect the pedal rod and lower rod to take some tension off but if its adjusted correctly, you shouldn't have to.
There's about 50 other causes for clutch chatter but this is the first thing I'd check.

Check your motor mounts and trans mounts. If its a reverse only problem look for something that torques or flexes only when in reverse.
