Hey all,

Just wanted to share my progress with everyone and ask a couple of more questions.

First, thanks for everyone's help and encouragement.

I have all of the EFI stuff off of the '95 motor and I was careful not to break any connections or wires except for one little wire to the oil pan. I left lots of room to fix it if needed. The brackets for the power steering and air is off. Alt bracket and smog pump and smog parts are also off.

I am going to clean the motor up real good and wire brush it and treat it as advised before I paint it. Should be able to start on that tomorrow. I have a new alt bracket and am working on a timing cover and oil pan. Then I will buy a new water pump.

The original headers have a heat tube that comes off of it. Luckly I have a extra set of headers that are almost identical to the ford ones. Don't know what type they are but I will use them. Do I have to use a seal for them or do I bolt them right up to the block? Also do I need a special paint for them or can I use the same kind of paint that I would use on the motor? What color should I panint them? They are currently silver/alum color.

The motor will be the dark ford blue with the alum intake (which will be painted alum color to make it look new)

I cleaned up the harmonic balancer with the wire brush and found the marking on it. Oh, yeah, I am able to put a socket and my long ratchet/breaking bar and turn the motor via the crank. I can hear the air blowing through etc. It is not that difficult but yet still takes some effort. Is that bad?

Also I have the intake off and I am going to clean out the old seal. Is there anything I should look for as far as wear or potential problems while I am in the top part there?

Is there a place other than the m&m and ebay classifieds where I can sell the efi stuff?

I know I will have more questions later but that is it for now. Thanks a lot everyone.

Richard.

By headers do you mean exhaust manifolds {cast iron} or headers {tubing}? Yes, either one needs high temperature paint if you expect it to last longer than a few minutes. If they are tube headers they need gaskets, manifolds can bolt up directly.

The swishing sound you hear is normal, it's the sound of escaping compressed air as the engine does it's thing.

Make sure the engine is spotless before you take it apart to minimize any dirt etc getting in where you don't want.

If you can't sell your stuff on ebay, you can't sell it anywhere.
