I am looking seriously at a set of power windows for my 68 as a winter project. I was wondering if any of you guys have seen or put a set of "Electric Life" direct replacement power mechanisms in one of our old Mustangs. I have looked through some cars at a salvage yard but have come to the conclusion that this is the way to go. Any thoughts?

I have not seen them but from what I have read these direct set up kits are worth every penny. I hope to do it myself when I get to that stage.Richard. ------------------ rmousir '66 Mustang Ford Blue & white stripes 302 auto Mustang ~ 04-05

I just put one of their kits in a 440 Dart I am building. It was by no means a bolt in They also royaly screwed up on the wire harness for it and did not respond to my e-mails.Also the switches are not designed for thin panel door panels, making them virtualy useless...Didnt some of the 69/70 Cougars have power windows, totally different door but.... That is EXACTLY what i am in the process of doing right now on my 70 Mach. I had a spare set of window regulators and found a pair of fox body power window motors for $10 on ebay. So far i have only removed the manual window crank knob that has splines on the outside and the small gear on the inside that meshes with the large toothed regulator arm. The window motors are exactly the same as the 69/70 cougar motors except they are a thinner design (more clearance!) and have a different electrical connector. They still have the same 3 point mount and i am trying to copy the cougar setups. The gear on the motor has the same teeth pattern as my regulator, so simply mounting the motor on my regulator and running some switches and wiring and i have a really cheap power window setup. I will do a write-up this winter when things start to slow down a bit. What happens if the power motor goes out on the Electric Life or A1 regulators? Not sure if they make replaceable motors but i'm sure you'd have to wait awhile to get them and i'm sure they aren't cheap.

The great state of Illinois defines 'lifetime' as it relates to product warranty liability as 7 years.

So do companies like Autozone or whoever actually not honor lifetime warrnties past 7 years?

My mistake, the warrantee is two years on the regulators and one year on the switches.
