How do think my car would look with the exhaust exiting in front the rear tire like this?

http://www.speedsportlife.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=12647&cat=841&perpage=24

I know my car still won't looks as good as his.

I was going to say if you painted black and put gold shelby stripes and made it a fastback,, it would look great..

Actually,, I think it looks okay.. Most seem to be pretty loud,, and because they are seperated so much they sound different..

They told me... at the muffler shop here, that its law that for a passenger car, exhaust must exit over the rear end. But they still sell that kit at Mustangs Unlimited right here in Georgia... But that was just one shop. I wanted that done as well, just for cost reasons. But... the fumes might be tough at stopped traffic I always thought.

The shop that did mine said that it would not work with the X-pipe. You might be able to if you go with an H, but for sure if you just go duals.

I say go for it. With your car I think it would look awesome. I have thought about doing so with mine when I get the exaust done.

I do worry about the fumes in traffic but man it looks good.

Side exit won't work with an X pipe.....Whaaaat?? I'm glad no one told me that before I did mine!
I have an X pipe, 2 1/2" pipes and they exit just in front of the rear wheels. I cut the pipes to follow the line of the car and I like them much better that way
They are loud though, course just going thru Dynomax race bullets doesn't help
I have a few pics on my website if you care to look. There's also a bad recording on page 2.

Maybe I'm just the odd man out, but I like the looks of dual exhaust out the back on the Mustangs as opposed to side outs. But that's just me. Can't explain it, just doesn't look right somehow.

Don't do it Scoop....it would get old after awhile. If you have a Shelby, its cool, and original looking. Exit out the rear for the clean look and sound. Just another old farts opinion.

Looks great.
Done that way though, it's pretty noisy
from insde the car. Your gonna hear 4cyl's
all the time. Kinda annoying after awhile.
If your gonna do it that way, put in a cross
over pipe in front of it. It will sound lots
better. After awhile you'll get tired of it
and want them run out the back.

Best to do it that way in the first place.

Don't ask me how I know. (-:

Not sure if your all aware of the fact. I've never had the exhaust exit out the rear of my car. Alway had turn downs at the axle. Which as worked out ok so far.
I can't imagine the side exit would sound any louder. I don't mind the turn downs expect when the road is dusty it blows it all over.
Thanks for all your opinions thats great.

Sam/sig that black paint is awesome and the car isn't bad either.

Just another opinion (from a journeyman no less)exit out the rear. Have a friend who has them out the side and found out he prefers the original set up (sound, exhaust fumes)to each his own!

I also vote for out the back. The side exit is illegal in most places and personally I think it just looks cheap...I like the nice "tuned" sound of a cam coming all the way through to the back.

If you go with the typical Shelby-type side exhaust, you'll probably need to use glasspacks or long, slim mufflers. I can imagine that would be pretty annoying after a while.

Here's a suggestion. This is the best thing to do if you want side exhaust and still want to use Flowmasters or any other standard shaped mufflers. You'll need to get mufflers with an inlet and outlet on the same side. This is what I plan for my car. I got the idea when I saw an AAR Cuda on a lift.
