I bought a set of rims/tires say.. October 2004. Purchased them from a guy who claimed to have them on his 65 GT, but went for a different look-- uh-huh.Vintage 45 16x8 w/ 4.5 B/S. 245/50/16 The rears fit fine-- they're tight, but fine. I need to raise the rear end up if I keep them. But it looks like the leaf springs could be replaced and that might help some? Any other way to raise it up? My dad sat in the backseat at about 160 and it pushed the quarter down onto the tire. The front.. no way no how, they fit inside the well, but the tires are just too wide. The slightest turn and they hit the fenders. So I'm looking at Dodgestangs website-- And it says 225/50 seems to be a safe bet. Is anyone hear running anything along those lines to verify? I was looking at the Sumitomo website-- I was considering just going to a 205/50 to have it done, wouldn't hurt that much either since its a manual steering car. But they say those only go up to rim sizes of 7.5. Another option was to find someone that purchased some 15' Vintage 45's that wouldn't mind swapping for a pair of 16's. I figured 15 on front and 16 on back wouldn't be that bad. What do ya'll think? Thanks, Luke

They should fit in the rear if you roll the fender lips.If your rear leafs are worn out, its also a good idea to shell out (or ask for it for the holidays) a couple hundred or so on new leafs, shackels, and shocks. This will do a lot to improve you driving experience and make the car handle better. You can possible make them work in the front with the shelby drop (which is a good thing anyway since your wheel/tire will perform better on curves anyway) and an aggressive alignment, but its hard. I run a 245 40 17 on the front of my 65 and I didn't even have to roll the fender lips, but I have the shelby drop to my arms, relocated ball joints, and a very aggressive 'weekend warrior'esk' alignment that you can very easily see the tip in at the top of the tire when the car is sitting parked. Because you are running the 4.5 BS which is the most you can do with a 16 inch wheel because of the upper control arm interference issue, you would prob have to roll your front fender regardless. However the 225 will certainly work for you assuming you have basically a stock car, with stock brakes, and stock suspension. ------------------ Nick 65FB 408c AOD D.T. I think the smallest you can get is a 215. You should be fine with the 225/50r16 tire on the front. I am sure that when you get this done you wheels will look awesome!richard

http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/127_0309_ford_resto_tricks/index3.html I think the 225-50-16 is the smallest tire for that rim?

No roof damage just the passenger side a piller needed a few whacks with the sledge. I can't take credit for the work...a trusted shop did it for me...I just bought them a parts car to steal all the needed parts from The drivetrain was not injured in the accident...all the bracing I added to the car plus the sheer volume of the motor in the space held it all together and protected it.

Luke..I have 16"x 8" Vintage 40's on 6T6.. I also have 620 1" lower springs on front.. When I tried 225/50/16's it rubbed my wheel wells and grabbed the lip.. I rolled the lips back and went with a 205/50/16 tire.. NO RUB,,drives good,, fits good,, looks good.. That's what's on 6T6's in MY PICS here on M&M.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Metallic Royal Blue & Silver Candy Orange-Red Flames by McGrafix My Pics

So Don, you're saying the 205's fit your 16x8 rim just fine? Also... what does rolling the fender lip involve? Is it just rolling the flat edge on the bottom half back up against the rest of the fender? Thanks, Luke
