Hi, guys.

This one is very easy and quick. I just bought a replacement flasher knob for by 67 Coupe, with out tilt steering. I know that I have the right piece, except it has a screw sticking out of the end of it. Oddly enough there seems to be what's left of a screw where it needs to go. Obviously, the two male ends won't match up...then it occured to me that the piece sticking out of my column could be the inside of an emergency knob. But before I go tear into it, probably doing more damage, I wanted to get some expert opinions. Can I simply put some vice grips on this nub and unscrew it? Also, there is some discoloration around where the flasher knob goes...am i missing a bezel or plastic piece...if so, what's it called and where can i get one.

There is a pic of the flasher knob and column posted at the bottom of the photos page my website. Thanks

Yes, you can pull out the stub and screw your new knob into place.

My 67 has a plastic piece that fits there,(it's stamped appropriatly "emergency flasher") my knob is missing also but I don't have any of it sticking out. Mine is broken off flush, any tips on how to get it out? I don't know where you can get the plastic piece, sorry.

Hard to say...how flush is it? My first response was to weld a nut to the end...but you'd melt all the plastic...here's a thought...take a dremel...cut a grove on top big enough for a small screw driver and back it out.

Disclaimer..not all my ideas work.

As flush as it could get . I thought of the Dremmel Too. I still might try it. I need to work on the horn contacts and thought about pulling the steering wheel anyway, maybe the whole unit might come out. I guess I'll try to find out this weekend.

OOOh here's another one...take a coat hanger heat the tip until it begins to melt...stick it to the end and weld it that way...again plastic could be an issue.

and another idea...trim the plastic around it down...just enough to get a pair of pliers or vice grips on it...i think we have a winner. don't trim too much and you'll have to trim all the way around...i'm thinking an eighth of an inch should do it.

If you need to work on the horn contacts anyway, the chances are good that your combination switch (horn, turn sigs, flashers) needs to be replaced anyway. The white plastic the knob screws into is part of the switch.

Other than the large round piece that says "emergency" on it there is no other spacer or collar.

That's the piece that I need. I looked in NPDs catalog and couldn't find on. Is there someplace else that carries them or was I looking in the wronge catalog section?

I've never seen the piece anywhere in the NPD catalog, don't know where you could find it (junkyard maybe?), by the way do you know where I might find a floor console??? It seems like an impossibility to find any parts for that years' convertible floor console, let alone the console itself! Mines a mess, speaker cut-outs, cracked . By the way Scott, does NPD sell this "combination switch?"

Yes, but most people and most catalogs refer to it as a turn signal switch, even though it does more than just turn signals.
