In 64, Phoenician Yellow was one and it was discontinued sometime in 65, and Springtime Yellow came in. The code V color is mentioned in"How To Restore Your Mustang" with an R-M code that is not too legible-could be 1692. PPG is not that great in finding old colors(some). DuPont is much better. My 66 cv is painted Skylight Blue and is painted with PPG BB/CC. They had a helluva time getting the color. Had an accurate sample for them and it was sent out to be formulated. Locals couldn't match it.

Hope you find it. A color that is close would be 67 Corvette Sunfire Yellow. It is a brighter, but still, a mild shade. In 72 Ford had a yellow that wasn't bright but would also probably be close.

thanks for your help mellowyellow

I was getting all exited when i seen the colour on the vette, i thought that would be fine, but on checking 3 different paint places I have found that that formulation is unavailable too.

American colors are so hard to get over here, and it appears that unless the colour was exported from the US, then we didnt get the color code( amkes sence i suppose).

What doesnt make sence to me is it appears that the tinters are the same, and with the ease of computers, one would thing that a company like PPG or Dupont would be able to download their colours if they were needed.

Ican get the australian formulation for just about any ozzie color off the net, but i havent been able to find a US one( maybe ive just looked in the wrong spot)

Anyway thanks heaps again for your help

kindest regards
Darren

PPG area rep told me that some of the toners are not available anymore but I still believe that the yellow could be formulated-somewhere. Do you have something to go by. Is it a car that you own that could possibly give a sample?

Sam do you think one of the Restoration Companies could help.
What about the one in PA,something Mustang Barn, think they would have a source for this color?

Darren,
welcome to M&M,I happen to have a South Australia Mustang Owners Club Shirt I wear with pride, since one of the members sent it to me.

dupont has a formula in a 2k paint, the only prob is that there is not a dupont 2k dealer here.

but im going to adelaide, a city 400 kms away next week and i might do some research while im there

the colour is actually for a fairlane 500, but its a color that i came across years ago somewhere that i really liked

thanks for the welcome and for the help guys

Here is a site that has the color chips on-line and they also state:
"We have PPG-Ditzlers Complete Historical Formula Database and Color Samples in hand to assist us in developing Certified Color Matches in any type of PPG paint that you require.
Every color that you see at Auto Color Library is available from our parent company, Auto Body Depot. We can provide you with the best possible O.E.M. color match in acrylic lacquer, acrylic enamel and all modern urethanes and basecoat/clearcoat systems technology."

You may not give have to give up yet if you are willing to have it shipped from the US to you.

Can you do Mustang Interior colors, also, with the correct "less than gloss" textures?
In acrylic lacquer?

Went to the library site-been there before. Interestingly, they show interior colors for 68 but not 66-7. Re the yellow color, no mention of it. Went to '63 thinking it might be there but they show one yellow -Tuscon Yellow

http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/search/search.pl

this is the ford 64 color chart, if you go to page 3 you will read where they discontinued some colors and placed some new colors, one of the code'v' sunlight yellow

i have been tothis site, and i have emailed them twice with no response, Im not sure why.

i only need a 100 ml,or a piece of metal with the color sprayed on it, i do have a couple of phots of the color but havent worked out how to put pics on this site yet.I did get them off the net but i cnat find where now, the color is lotmore pastel than the model and as mellow yelow said pretty close to the 67 vette color.

I willgive the library another emailand let them know that i have tried to get info out of them a couple of times before with no response, hopefully that will get them going
