do all 302's have the same firing order? If not where can I find the firing order for a '95 motor. My thoughts are the firing order would be the same for all of the 302s. Am I wrong? Thanks. Richard. ------------------ rmousir '66 Mustang Ford Blue & white stripes 302 auto Mustang ~ 04-05

your camshaft determines your firing order. what cam are you useing? if it is a new cam, it should tell you the firing order on the cam card.

not 100 % sure. I think it is a stock came. The motor is a '95 ho if that helps. I am going to pull the wires off the motor. Will mark them but I am not sure if I need to if the firing order is the same as my old 302.

you guys rock. so if I number the plugs and the efi dist when I take it off they should match this:Firing order for 82 and up HO 302s "13726548" right? Now cylinder 1 is the passenger side front. #2, #3, #4 are on the passanger side going from front to back #4 being by the fire wall. Then #5, #6, #7, #8 or on the drivers side going from the grill (#5) to the fire wall (#8). Correct me if I am wrong. Now since I am on the firing order and collecting parts. I have reciently added the pertronix elect upgrade to my dist that I have in my '73. I know I need to get the steal gear for it if I use it. Should I upgrade to a high performance dist for this swap? I was thinking of trying to keep it simple for now to keep costs down. Just looking for some opinions. Richard. Richard.

Keep it simple and keep costs down. You can upgrade later. Too many guys fall into the upgrade trap and the projects take forever to get done. Keep focused and keep moving forward!

Make sure the firing order is correct!!! If it aint, you can blow the nosecone off your starter when it backfires.

Jake11,"1#2#3#4 are on driver side facing the car from the front. 5#6#7#8# same but on passenger side." Are you sure about that???? I thought that the #1 is closest to the front/fan on the passenger side. The dist I have on the motor now has the #1 wire going to there now. Richard.

just checked the car and the motor I have in there now is also set up the same way as my new motor with the #1 being on the passenger side closes to the front/rad. "1#2#3#4 are on driver side facing the car from the front. 5#6#7#8# same but on passenger side." I think that is backwards.
